Principles and Policies Podcast for 5/3/2014- The Principles Of ’98

Our Principles and Policies radio show for Saturday May 3, 2014. Chuck Michaelis hosts as we present the audio portion of a video filmed at Camp American.  The presenter is Barry Sheets, Director of the Institute For Principled Policy and CEO of Principled Consulting.

The recording was made at Camp American in June of 2012 and is also available as a video DVD from Camp American. The question that is asked in this (and a future follow-up) presentation is “what recourse do the states and the people have when the federal government oversteps its specifically enumerated powers?” Barry gives a presentation that begins to answer that question but in answering it gives a great presentation on the history, philosophy, and, yes, theology behind the doctrine of interposition.

Our Principles and Policies radio show for Saturday March 8, 2014. Barry Sheets and Chuck Michaelis talk with Mark Stevenson of Ohioans For Educational Freedom about the case of the Romeike family. We discuss the dangerous tack taken by the US Justice Department, Immigration and Homeland Security in arguing that there is no fundamental right to home educate their children and that this fact made the Romeike family dangerous.

Principles and Policies Podcast for 10/26/2013- Tyranny In Ohio State Government

Our Principles and Policies radio show for Saturday October 26, 2013. Barry Sheets and Chuck Michaelis discuss the seizure of legislative authority by Governor Kasich by a slick maneuver in which he abused his line item veto power to negate a section of the budget law passed by the Ohio legislature which outlawed Medicaid expansion in Ohio. The Governor then stacked the deck on the Ohio Controlling Board with the help of House Speaker Bill Batchelder to thwart the will of the Ohio legislature and expand Medicaid anyway. Barry and Chuck explain why it’s a tyranny for the executive branch to usurp legislative authority and what it may cost the governor.

Barry and Chuck also discuss testimony given by Senate President Keith Faber in which he completely misses the mark on the powers of a convention and exactly how and why a convention works.
